My Approach
Every human life has its share of difficulty, disappointment, and distress, and sometimes a skilled professional is the best choice to offer insight and bring new perspective. My passion is to help my clients see a way out. I do this by offering a warm, respectful relationship that acts as a healing container for you to find clarity that links your thoughts, feelings, and actions.
My receptive, strength-based style aims to create an authentic connection where we can address what’s really going on in your heart and mind. Whatever you are navigating—anxiety, depression, relationship problems, or other life challenges—I will collaborate with you to determine the best course for you to start feeling better, meeting your needs, and accomplishing your goals in life.
Psychotherapy
My approach blends client-centered counseling, attachment theory, psychodynamics, and multicultural attunement to provide a healing container that addresses your challenges with compassion and wisdom. Talk therapy can reduce distress by providing new perspectives on how we see ourselves, others, and the world.
EMDR
I also offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, an evidence-based treatment that supports the reduction of painful memories and uses the mind’s natural adaptive networks to reframe meaning and dissolve suffering.
Mindfulness
In my practice, I emphasize this ability to observe your thoughts, emotions, and sensations in a nonjudgmental way (rather than being absorbed by and identified with them), which reduces unnecessary pain and improves cognitive, emotional, and interpersonal functioning.
Parts work
It can be supportive to view yourself as a collection of various perspectives that each have a purpose but can sometimes be out of balance or in conflict with other parts. This psychological exploration, sometimes called Internal Family Systems, can help resolve such conflicts and bring you into internal alignment.
“Although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it.” — Helen Keller
Support for couples
In my work with couples, I draw on my Level 1 Gottman Method training and experience with both Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Nonviolent Communication (NVC) to help couples improve intimacy, recover from breaches of trust, address conflicts, and improve communication.
